Understanding Upcoming Apple Health Changes

Changes are coming to Apple Health (Medicaid), and while not every member will be affected in the same way, understanding what is changing can help individuals, families, and caregivers feel more prepared.

Join us for Clark County Works Together, a free community expert panel and resource event on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fourth Plain Commons in Vancouver. The panel begins at 11:00 a.m. Attendees will hear from experts in behavioral health, employment and housing support services, and the Washington State Health Care Authority, then have the opportunity to speak directly with community partners and Managed Care Organizations for individualized support. Spanish and Chuukese interpretation will be available, and the event will include light brunch and door prizes.

Event Details:

Thursday, October 15, 2026, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the panel beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Fourth Plain Commons, 3101 E Fourth Plain Blvd., Suite 101, Vancouver, WA 98661. The event is free, and RSVPs are appreciated.

The timing of this event is especially important because Washington is beginning to implement federal Medicaid changes under H.R. 1. According to the Washington State Health Care Authority, some eligibility changes affecting certain noncitizen adults begin October 1, 2026. Additional changes are expected in 2027, including new work or community-engagement requirements for many adults enrolled in Apple Health for Adults, renewals every six months instead of every twelve months, and shorter retroactive coverage periods.

HCA notes that many details are still being developed and that changes will roll out gradually rather than all at once. Washington State Health Care Authority

For now, the state is encouraging Apple Health members to keep their contact information up to date and watch for notices by mail or email about any changes that may affect their coverage. Most changes are expected to take effect at renewal after implementation, so staying informed will be especially important over the coming months. Washington State Health Care Authority

Clark County Works Together is designed to give community members a place to ask questions, hear directly from experts, and connect with organizations that can help make these changes easier to understand.
